The concepts of symptom and loss of Georges Didi-Huberman in two works of Yishai Jusidman
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article establishes a dialogue between two paintings of the artist Yishai Jusidman using the concepts of symptom and loss proposed by the art historian Georges Didi-Huberman. The pieces in question are titled Majdanek and Auschwitz, which were part of the Azul de Prusia exhibition, held at the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo UNAM (2016-2017). The thinking is stablished through the analysis of both pictorial representations, regarding the nonvisible as a condition of critical possibility that enable us to situate in the gap between the sensible and the intelligible. Furthermore, the article seeks to observe the status of the gaze from the memory, as the ability of articulating heterogeneous times, as well as analyze the concepts of veil-image and tear-image to differentiate between those that have been considered according to the demands of history and those that encourage us to think and produce other images.
