Intersections between feminism, art, and politics A look at the “Advanced Scene” to de neutralize the signs of culture
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article introduces the artistic production of women in Chile, who challenged the military and patriarchal dictatorship, between 1973 and 1990, as part of the movement called "Advanced Scene". Based on the contributions of the French-Chilean theorist Nelly Richard, this text sets out the relationship between biographical authorship and gender representation, in other words with the fact of being a woman artist and the symbolic cultural records of the feminine. In this order, it questions the traditional interpretation of art produced by women, and places the feminine as an opposite, as an alternative and counter-dominant subjectivity capable of disjointing the mechanisms of meaning in hegemonic culture.
