Art Difference Between Contemporary, Electronic and Digital Art

Abstract

Humans constantly expresses through art, some audiences see it as an expression that encourages thought, and others approach art with respect. However, few define art with multiple criteria due to its transformative nature. This article focuses on thinking on different criteria that is considered influential to the field of art. There are two branches that will be analyzed: electronic art, within which is digital art, all forming part of art ecosystem, where technology is not alien to the human being. On the contrary, it arises and configures it like zeitgeist, art as the spirit of an age.

Author Biography

Cynthia Villagomez, Universidad de Guanajuato

Professor and Researcher at Guanajuato University in Mexico since August 2002. She is the author of six books, book chapters, and articles about Art, Digital Art, Creativity, and Design. Since 2003 she is the editor of the magazine called Revista Interiorgrafico de la Division de Arquitectura, Arte y Diseño de la Universidad de Guanajuato. In addition, she has made stays in Spain, linked to the research she has been developing. She is a Graphic Designer, has a Master's degree in Creativity for Design (from the School of The National Institute of Fine Arts), and a Ph.D. in Visual Arts and Intermedia (from Universidad Politecnica of Valencia, Spain). Her Ph.D. thesis about Processes of Production of Mexican Digital Art was received "Premio Extraordinario de Tesis Doctorales" by Universidad Politecnica de Valencia in 2016. She is a former Member of The Mexican National Research System (Sistema Nacional de Investigadores), Level II of The National Council for Science and Technology, CONACYT in Mexico.
