Abstract

To think of the strokes, traces and chemical processes that come together in the work of Daya Ortiz Durán is to think of a dictionary capable of translating the signs of the body. Ortiz's artistic practice manifests itself as an infinite exploration, which takes as its starting point her affections and materializes them in artistic proposals. This essay analyzes eight works by Ortiz that are born from affections and can recognize the body’s vulnerability. These works invite us to think, about what happens when affects invade a body, inhabit, and dislodge it to make room for new affects that will converge on it again.
