Abstract

This essay is the continuation of a prior study about the role played out by the Neo-avant-garde since the nineteen sixties to the present day. In this case, the focus is over the pioneering female artists of Body Art and their legacy today. The investigation aims to discover the origins of these artistic phenomena from a multidisciplinary point of view; so as to be able to recognize the complexity behind these expressions of contemporary art. The essay proposes, as well, to uncover the conceptual, intellectual and social relations between Europe’s and the United States of North America’s neo-avant-gards; therefore, integrating a personal dimension among these expressions of new types of aesthetics.
