Abstract

This text recalls the process of organizing a contemporary art biennial, and how to think this project in the long term. This is a report on the Biennial’s management process and how the executive part emphasized their sensitive view to produce this edition. This article shows the development of a curatorship coherent with the reality of the city and from a local cultural institution; shows as well how the reality of Ecuador, Cuenca and this Biennial.

Author Biography

Katya Cazar

Licenciada en Artes Visuales, especialista en curaduría de arte, Master en Estudios de la cultura, artista y curadora independiente, profesora invitada a de la Universidad de Cuenca en pregrado y postgrado, ha curado muestra como Patios y arte contemporáneo de Quito, en curaduría adjunta con Gerardo Mosquera, ha trabajo en proyectos de arte de mujeres,  en la muestra de Espacios Mínimos, ha sido curadora por Ecuador en la Bienal de Cuenca en su edición 11, Directora ejecutiva dela Bienal de Cuenca en su 12 edición, como artista ha presentado su obra fuera y dentro de Ecuador, colabora con la revista Cuadernos de arte de la Universidad Católica de Chile y la revista Post de la Universidad San Francisco de Quito. Actualmente trabaja en un proyecto de investigación sobre procesos auditivos y sonoros de la obra del artista colombiano Oswaldo Maciá, para el Centro Atlántico de Gran Canaria, España y sobre la obra visual del artista ecuatoriano Mauricio Bueno.
