About the Authors

The authors must accept the submission policies, publication regulations, rights and must agree with this declaration ethical practices in research and publication, prior to submitting their proposal for judgement.

The authors who submit their proposal to Índex, Revista de Arte contemporáneo, declare that their proposal is original and unpublished. It has not been published in any other magazine or publication.

The authors must not send their proposal simultaneously, thus avoiding the publication of the text more than once. The author must wait for the result of the evaluation to decide on an article in the event that it has not been approved by Índex, Revista de Arte Contemporáneo.

The authors recognize and respect the intellectual property of third parties in their original sources, thus rigorously taking care of quoting references to texts, research, artistic works, among other inputs used for the creation of the proposal. The reference tools used by Índex, Revista de Arte Contemporáneo, are those described in the APA standards. This will help the authors avoid incurring in plagiarism that may be intentional or by omission.

Authors should avoid fragmented publication, which consists of dividing research products into short articles. This practice can lead to replicate publications, which brings problems such as the duplication of hypotheses, methodologies and other relevant aspects that would be repeated in more than one published text.

The authors must declare that dishonest obtaining of the products of their research, was always avoided, that is, that they did not obtain the results of experiments or observations by plagiarism or invention.

On the concept of Authorship

To be considered an author, Índex, Revista de Arte Contemporáneo is based on Elsevier's criteria on authorship: “To be an ‘author’ one must have responsibility for a particular aspect (which is not minimal) of the investigation or preparation of the work, that is, he must have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the work, informed the studio, and must have approved the final form of the work. Fundamentally, an author must be prepared and have the ability and responsibility to publicly defend the work” (Elsevier, 2017, retrieved at: https://www.elsevier.com/editors/perk/authorship-complaints).

So, if the people listed as authors have not been an essential part of the research proposal or have written part of the proposed text, it is the responsibility of the author to duly identify authors, co-authors, and collaborators at the time of sending the proposal for review.

Always avoid, as well, creating ghost authors, who refers to the author who qualifies as such, and has been excluded from the list of authors or including gift authors, which is who has been included as an author despite not being qualified as such. Forgery of authors is unacceptable, which occurs by including names of authors who had nothing to do with the research or production of the text.

About the Reviewers

Reviewers must be experts in the field of arts, whose experience has been a contribution to the field in their region. This experience should be shown in research projects-artistic creation, book publications, book chapters or articles.

The Reviewers must, in no way, review articles for which they are not prepared to do so.

Before delivering the results of the analysis of the submission, the Reviewer or Peer Evaluator must declare to the Editor if they know the author of the article to be reviewed, and if in any way the anonymity of the review, which is given by means of the blind peer review system, has been lost.

The reviewer must declare, as well, if he or she have a conflict of interest with the to be evaluated proposal, which prevents him or her from carrying out the Riviewer’s work impartially. In both cases, the Reviewer must abstain from evaluating the article, which will be submitted to another Evaluator. These conflicts can be caused by:

  • Direct relationship between the parties.
  • Recent employment relationship.
  • The evaluator was part of the research team.
  • Financial interests.

It is the responsibility of the Reviewer to issue the decision on an article within the period established for it and based on the evaluation rubric provided by the journal’s Editor. This verdict is given in four instances; accepted, accepted with minor modifications, accepted with major modifications, and must be re-evaluated, and finally, rejected. In the instances in which corrections are required, the Reviewer will include them in the rubric, which will be sent to the Author by the Editor.

The peer reviewers will keep strict confidentiality about the article they are evaluating until the end of the evaluation process that results in its publication.
