Through her artistic work, María José Argenzio transmits her thoughts on the political, social, and economic spheres in contemporary Ecuador. Her main projects are focused on the tensions that surround mestizo identity and social classes of colonial heritage. The exhibition ‘Fragile Genealogy’ precisely explores the ways in which our connections with the past are produced. The set of works focuses on the expressions of whitening that shape their materiality and evoke the damage that this tradition provokes.
